Dear Friend,

I can't remember a time when I didn't have animal family members. Cats, turtles, anoles, dogs and birds... Maybe its like that for you too. I feel better and notice the difference in energy around the house when my dog is next to me, or when my birds become office assistants.

What is that connection we have with our animal companions? How can we tell when they need something? How can THEY detect when WE need something?

I believe we have much to learn and far to go. Let's beRosemary and Graciegin to explore the bonds we have and maybe some of the reasons why we are so connected to our true companions.

Please enjoy this issue, check out my blog to enter your comments and pass this message along to a friend.

 Communicating With Your Animal

We can understand that when the dog is at the door, she'd like to godog ear out. After all, she trained us to do that, right? But what other messages might we get if we listen or observe? Do animals really have something to tell us? I believe they do!

Messages can come in many forms; a feeling we get, a picture in our minds, an "inner voice". That look in their eyes can tell us when they're really happy... or when its "time to leave". Our connections are deeper than we think.

You don't need to be near your animal for this exercise. If you are feeling strong emotions, try to set them aside and breathe calmly. Emotions block the messages we could receive. Try this:
Find a quiet time when you know you'll be undisturbed and free of distractions. Take a few slow, deep breaths and just focus on your breathing. If your "to do" list comes to mind, take a few extra minutes to just be quiet and breathe. Now imagine sending your pet a message... how about love... like a beautiful pink valentine, a shower of hearts or a soft blanket of light coming down to rest on your pet. Pay attention to the message you get back. Is it a picture? a word that you see written or that you hear? a feeling? The message will come as quick as a flash, so pay attention. Congratulations! You have just communicated with your true companion.

Meditation is a wonderful tool. If this is new to you, you might want to try a meditation cd. (there's a free one on my website... click here for the Secret Garden meditation)
Reading Animals as Teachers

In all my years as a teacher in the classroom I have never been so humbled as when I became my dog's student. What does it mean to be taught by your animal companion? How do we receive these lessons?

Here's a partial list.
-Go outside. I love this lesson. We spend way too much time inside (I'm guilty of that one) and we should go outside to connect to nature, become more grounded, breathe fresh air, exercise and receive all the benefits of being outside.

- Play. When we take time for play we nurture our inner child. Of course, playing with my dog is the best. She makes me laugh!

- Take naps when you're tired... self-explanatory. :)

- Accept treats and show gratitude.

- Love unconditionally. Again, I am humbled by this lesson.

- Open your heart to the possibilities. There is always room to learn, grow and become more than you think possible. Keep your heart open to receive.

Feel free to add some lessons you have learned on my blog. Ginger was my greatest teacher... ok, my mom is up there too. But here's an interesting addition to Ginger's story that you may not know. Click here.

Zeolite for pets Protect Me!

We all feel safer knowing our dog is on guard. I even wonder if my Gracie ever closes her eyes. She's such a protector. My birds sound the alarm when there is a noise at the door, or a disturbance outside. Their love is unconditional. How do WE PROTECT THEM?

Every one I talk to loves their pets. They do everything they know to keep their pets healthy and safe. It's what people DON'T KNOW that concerns me.

Food. Most commercial pet foods have grains and fillers, preservatives and maybe even harmful contaminants. Animals can develop food sensitivities, allergies, skin issues and digestive issues... and worse!

Changing to a prescription diet may help temporarily, but consider switching to what comes more naturally for canines and felines... a raw diet.

Vaccinations. Required by law (Rabies) and kennels or day care (all other vaccinations) many people believe we are over-vaccinating our pets. Why is this a concern? Well, for one, the mercury preservative used in vaccinations is highly toxic. Also, the vaccinations can over stress the immune system and lead to immune dysfunction. For some animals, especially cats, we sometimes see carcinomas forming at the injection site. What does this tell you?

Consider finding a vet who doesn't vaccinate as often. Also, it is possible to have a simple blood test to determine if your animal still has immunity to the particular disease. Ask for a titer.

Chemicals in the Home and Neighborhood. I'll be blunt here. Your animals' lives may depend on it. DON'T USE harmful chemicals, synthetic fragrances, bleach, carpet cleaners, fabric protectors, metal or plastic dishes, non-stick coated pans, chemical insect repellents, fertlizers and sprays in the yard, slug bait, treated wood for decks and play structures... you get the idea? While you wear shoes, your dog is walking barefoot through the Round-Up you or your neighbor sprayed... same for insecticides. While you sit in a chair, your dog has nose and body on the carpet and getting a direct application of the off-gassing and chemicals. DON'T USE chemical flea repellents. Read the label. If it says to avoid contact with skin, why would you put it on your beloved animal's skin?

Try natural cleaners like lemon, vinegar, baking soda. Use essential oils for cleaning, freshening... and even as flea repellents. In the garden, try compost tea for fertlizer and encourage natural predators for insects. By the way, beer works great as slug bait.

Zeolite for every day use. We can make some changes for better health by stopping the use of harmful chemicals. How can we really PROTECT our animals from the ravages of TOXINS? Use activated liquid zeolite. Check the facts. Make the decision and PROTECT your true companions from serious disease.

Become Informed. We all make decisions based on the best information we have at the time. Most people I talk to wish they had known so they could have prevented the terrible diseases their pets face. Learn NOW. Share what you know NOW. Go to my blog NOW and add your valuable comments.
